江苏风景名胜以“青山衬秀水、名园依古城”而驰名中外，自然景观具有“山水组合、以水见长”的鲜明地方特色。自然景观和人文历史的相互依托与结缘，形成江苏风景名胜所独有的艺术魅力。其悠久历史可上溯6000 余年，2500年前太湖之滨诞生为吴王夫差与西施游乐而修建的离宫别苑。享有“东方威尼斯”之美称的苏州，完好地保存着数量多、艺术品位高的古典园林。至2018 年末，江苏
拥有国家级风景名胜区5 处，分别是：太湖（苏州、无锡、常州）、钟山（南京）、蜀冈—瘦西湖（扬州）、云台山（连云港）和三山（镇江）风景名胜区。拥有省级风景名胜区17 处，分别是：雨花台（南京）、夫子庙—秦淮风光带（南京）、虎丘山（苏州）、枫桥（苏州）、南山（镇江）、茅山（句容、金坛）、九龙山（句容）、濠河（南通）、狼山（南通）、溱湖（姜堰）、云龙湖（徐州）、艾山（邳州）、马陵山（新沂）、第一山（盱眙）、九龙口（建湖）、骆马湖—三台山（宿迁）、古黄河—运河风光带（宿迁）风景名胜区。风景名胜区总面积约1770km2，约占全省地域面积的1.75%。

Jiangsu Province gains its worldwide reputation for its picturesque scenery featured by “Elegant Rivers against Green Mountains, Historical Cities besides Classical Gardens”. Its landscape enjoys outstanding local characteristics with the combination of mountains, rivers and beautiful waterways. The integration of natural scenery, culture, and history adds unique charm to Jiangsu’s scenic spots. With hundreds of years of development, its landscape gardens have formed distinctive artistic styles and unique landscaping and gardening techniques. Its long history can be traced back to over 6,000
years ago. As early as 2,500 years ago, King Fuchai of the Wu Kingdom built a temporary palace by the Taihu Lake to enjoy the lakeview with Xishi. Suzhou, which enjoys a reputation of “Oriental Venice”, is home to numerous well preserved classical gardens with high artistic values.By the end of 2017, there were five state-level scenic spots in Jiangsu. They were the Taihu Lake in Suzhou and Wuxi, the Purple Mountain in Nanjing, the Shugang Ridge-Slender West Lake in Yangzhou, Mount Yuntai in Lianyungang and Mount Jinshan, Mount Jiaoshan and Mount Beigushan in Zhenjiang. There were 17 provincial-level scenic spots, namely, the Rain Flower Terrace and the Confucius Temple-Qinhuai Scenic Belt in Nanjing, the Tiger Hill and the Fengqiao Bridge in Suzhou, the Mount Nanshan in Zhenjiang, the Mount Maoshan at the intersection of Jurong and Jintan, the Mount Jiulong in Jurong, the Haohe River and the Mount Langshan in Nantong, the Qinhu Lake in Jiangyan, the Yunlong Lake in Xuzhou, the Mount Aishan in Pizhou, the Mount Maling in Xinyi, the Mount Diyishan in Xuyi, the Jiulongkou in Jianhu, and the Luoma Lake-Mount Santai and the Ancient Yellow River-Canal Scenic Belt in Suqian. These scenic spots
covered a total area of 1,770 km2, 1.75% of the provincial total.
